Hypnotherapy for Coaches

Do you want to extend your coaching skills and add new approaches to your tool kit? This course introduces powerful techniques found in hypnotherapy and positive psychology and shows you how you can apply these in your coaching practice.

Building on a robust evidence-base, you will explore how hypnotic techniques can combine with coaching approaches to help your clients to:

  • Increase creativity
  • Move beyond 'blocks'
  • Gain objective perspectives
  • Enhance personal and professional strategic problem solving
  • Identify and build on existing and new strengths
  • Promote and maintain motivation
  • Visualise and identify closely with their future goals

By the end of this course you will have learned:

  • How to assess the suitability of your client for hypnosis
  • How to induce, deepen and awaken your client from trance
  • How to confidently manage your client as you guide them through the hypnotic experience
  • Powerful techniques to use in hypnosis that can enhance and improve your clients coaching experience
  • Approaches to stress management, resilience and wellbeing (including Mindfulness practices) that can be applied to both your client and yourself
  • Address specific client or personal issues such as: performance anxiety; time management; procrastination etc.
  • The neuroscientific evidence-base and rational for combining hypnosis and coaching

This course is open to Coaches and represents 33 hours verifiable CPD

The course takes place over three weekends (one weekend a month):

  • Weekend 1: 25th and 26th March 2017
  • Weekend 2: 29th and 30th April 2017
  • Weekend 3: 20th and 21st May 2017

Julia Lewis MSc, PgCert

Julia is a full-time hypnotherapist and coach working in Central London holding an MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching (both with distinction). Spending more than 25 years within a public sector organisation, Julia’s MSc research and subsequent clinical focus has been towards dealing with all types of anxiety, particularly the increasingly prevalent issue of workplace stress. Julia also specialises in dealing with a comprehensive range of performance related issues, including: performance anxiety; procrastination and perfectionism; and performance enhancement. An advocate of positive psychology principles within both her hypnotic and coaching work, Julia believes that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Peter Mabbutt FBSCH

Peter originally trained in Psychopharmacology and spent many years undertaking research in the fields of anxiety, tranquiliser dependence, learning and memory, and phobias before training with the LCCH in Clinical Hypnotherapy. He now has extensive experience in hypnotherapy and lectures internationally on the subject. Peter is the Programme Leader for the MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy heading the team that updates the course in line with new developments in the field. He has been instrumental in setting up the Hypnotherapy Pain Management Clinic and research programme at University of Malaya Hospital, Kuala Lumpur. Peter is also a consultant for the Hypnotherapy Unit at the Pantai Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. He regularly lectures to the international medical community on the use of hypnosis. Peter is Vice President of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and is co-author of the popular Hypnotherapy for Dummies, and Self-Hypnosis for Dummies. Peter is a regular guest on radio shows in the UK and Southeast Asia where he discusses hypnotherapy and related subjects.
